The SECO 17003591 is a single-end, solid micrograin carbide square end mill engineered for demanding metal removal in professional machining environments. This 5-flute tool runs a 0.25 inch cutting diameter with a 1.25 inch length of cut and a 4 inch overall length on a 0.25 inch straight shank. The 45-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. An AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating provides high heat resistance and extended tool life across a broad range of workpiece materials. Machinists and toolroom professionals select this series when cycle times and surface finish both matter.
The 17003591 belongs to SECO Series S545, a regular-length line designed for center-cutting operations with right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, aluminum and non-ferrous materials, and hardened materials. The spiral flute configuration handles slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling. No coolant-through feature is present, so this tool is intended for flood, mist, or dry cutting setups depending on the material and operation.
Designed as a Series S545 regular-length square end mill for use in standard 0.25 inch collets, end mill holders, or hydraulic chucks on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. Primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, S, N, and H are supported per the supplier material classification system.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Secure the straight shank in a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque to the spindle manufacturer's specification. Inspect runout with a dial indicator before cutting — TIR should not exceed 0.0005 inches at the tip. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing or adjusting tooling per standard machine safety practice.
