The SECO 17003590 is a single-end square end mill engineered for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining environments. Built from micrograin solid carbide with an AlTiN coating, this tool delivers excellent wear resistance and thermal stability at elevated cutting speeds. It features a 1/4-inch cutting diameter, a 3/4-inch length of cut, and a 45-degree helix angle with 5 spiral flutes for efficient chip evacuation. The centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry into workpieces. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration makes it compatible with standard CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This end mill is designed for use across a wide range of workpiece materials, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and hardened materials. Its micrograin carbide substrate and AlTiN finish make it well suited for high-speed finishing and medium-duty slotting and profiling operations in both production and job-shop settings. A 1/4-inch straight shank fits standard collet chucks and end mill holders common in vertical machining centers and CNC routers.
Designed for use with standard 1/4-inch collet chucks, ER collet systems, and end mill holders on CNC vertical machining centers and manual knee mills. Rated for primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, S, N, and H, covering steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temp alloys, aluminum and non-ferrous, and hardened materials.
Installation and tool changes must be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out per shop safety procedures. Ensure the straight shank is fully seated and properly torqued in the collet or end mill holder to within manufacturer runout specifications before operation. Verify TIR does not exceed 0.0005 inches at setup to maintain edge life and surface finish quality. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the tool if chipping or wear is visible.
