The SECO 17003583 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for precision metal removal in demanding machining environments. Part of the Series S545 lineup, it features a 5/32 inch cutting diameter, five flutes, and a 45-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting action. The micrograin carbide substrate delivers the hardness and edge retention required for aggressive feeds in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. An AlTiN coating adds thermal and oxidation resistance, extending tool life in high-heat cutting conditions. This single-end, centercutting tool is designed for machinists running tight-tolerance work on CNC mills and manual mills alike.
This end mill is suited for milling operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and hardened materials. Its short flute length and 3/16 inch straight shank make it a practical choice for slotting, profiling, and plunging in confined features or shallow pockets where tool clearance is limited. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute orientation follow standard CNC tooling conventions, making setup straightforward for most machining centers.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide square end mill compatible with standard straight-shank toolholders accepting a 3/16 inch shank diameter, suitable for CNC machining centers and manual mills running the material types listed in the specifications.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the 3/16 inch straight shank fully into a collet or end mill holder and torque the retention hardware per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chips or damage before mounting. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer recommended cutting parameters for the workpiece material being machined.
