The SECO 17003581 is a single-end square end mill designed for high-performance milling across a wide range of workpiece materials. Built from micrograin solid carbide, this tool features a 1/8 inch cutting diameter, a 1/4 inch length of cut, and a 1/8 inch straight shank, with an overall length of 1.5 inches. The 5-flute geometry combined with a 45-degree spiral helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and a smooth cutting action. An AlTiN coating provides elevated heat resistance and surface hardness, making this end mill well suited for aggressive feeds and speeds in demanding machining environments. It is centercutting, right-hand cut, and right-hand flute.
This end mill is rated for use on a broad range of materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and hardened materials. Its short length profile and micrograin substrate make it a reliable choice for precision slot milling, profiling, and contouring operations on CNC machining centers and manual mills. The Series S545 designation places it within SECO's line of high-performance solid carbide end mills intended for production environments requiring tight tolerances and consistent tool life.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide end mill within SECO Series S545, suitable for use in standard straight-shank collet chucks and end mill holders sized for a 1/8 inch shank diameter.
This tool is installed by a machinist or CNC setup technician into a compatible collet or end mill holder rated for a 1/8 inch straight shank. Ensure the spindle and workholding are powered down and the machine is in a safe state before tool changes. Verify runout does not exceed the specified TIR maximum of 0.0005 inches after installation using a dial test indicator. Refer to SECO cutting data recommendations and applicable shop safety procedures when establishing feeds, speeds, and depth of cut.
