The SECO 17003463 is a single-end square end mill designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining environments. Built from micrograin solid carbide, it features a 5/8-inch diameter cutting edge with five flutes and a 45-degree helix angle. The aggressive helix geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action across a wide range of workpiece materials. With a length of cut of 1.625 inches and a 3.5-inch overall length, this end mill suits standard vertical and horizontal milling setups. It is centercutting capable and runs right-hand cutting with right-hand flute direction. The bright uncoated finish makes it a straightforward choice when coating is not required by the application.
This end mill is intended for use in general-purpose and production milling applications across ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and hardened materials. It fits CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with a 5/8-inch straight shank toolholder. The Series S545 designation places it within SECO's solid carbide end mill lineup optimized for multi-material versatility.
Designed for use with 5/8-inch straight shank toolholders on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and hardened materials per SECO material codes P, M, K, S, N, and H.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Secure the straight shank in a collet or end mill holder torqued to toolholder manufacturer specifications before powering the spindle. Verify runout does not exceed the maximum TIR of 0.0005 inches after tool engagement. Always bring spindle to a full stop and de-energize the machine before changing or inspecting tooling.
