The SECO 17003416 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Built to Series S335 specifications, it features a 3/8-inch diameter, a 0.0200-inch corner radius, and three flutes with a 35-degree medium helix angle. The AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in demanding cutting environments. At 2 inches overall length with a 1/2-inch length of cut, this stub-length tool delivers rigidity and reduced deflection. It is a single-end, centercutting design, meaning it can plunge directly into a workpiece. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops and production environments are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is suited for roughing and finishing operations on ferrous and exotic alloys including steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The stub length type makes it well-matched to applications requiring stiff tool engagement and minimal overhang, such as shoulder milling, slotting, and contour passes on harder materials. The 3/8-inch Weldon flat shank mounts directly into compatible toolholders. The coarse pitch and right-hand flute direction support efficient chip evacuation in these demanding material groups.
Designed for use with standard toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch Weldon flat shank. Primary workpiece material compatibility includes steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium as specified by SECO material codes P, M, and S.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool changer or spindle locked before inserting or removing the end mill. Ensure the Weldon flat is properly aligned with the toolholder setscrew to prevent axial pullout under cutting loads. Verify runout does not exceed the specified TIR maximum of 0.0005 inches after tool seating.
