The SECO 17003407 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. It carries a 7/32 inch (0.2188 inch) cutting diameter and a 0.0200 inch corner radius, making it well suited for blending and finishing operations where sharp corners must be avoided. The AlTiN PVD coating provides heat and oxidation resistance at elevated cutting temperatures. With 3 flutes and a 35-degree medium helix, the tool balances chip evacuation with surface finish quality. This is a single-end, centercutting design from the SECO S335 series, cleared for both roughing and finishing passes.
This end mill targets machinists and tooling setups working with ferrous and difficult-to-cut alloys in precision machining environments. The straight-cylindrical 1/4 inch shank seats directly into standard toolholders. The coarse pitch flute geometry handles aggressive cuts in steel and stainless while the corner radius protects the edge during interrupted or shoulder milling. Typical applications include mold and die work, aerospace component machining, and production runs on stainless and nickel-base superalloy parts. The right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting orientation match the vast majority of CNC milling setups.
Designed for use with standard cylindrical-bore toolholders accepting a 1/4 inch straight shank. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (material codes P, M, S).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Before changing tooling, confirm the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the straight shank fully into the toolholder bore and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout against the TIR maximum of 0.0005 inch before beginning a cut.
