The SECO 17003401 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding materials including steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. It carries a 1/8 inch cutting diameter, a 0.0100 inch corner radius, and three right-hand spiral flutes with a 35-degree helix angle. The AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life at elevated cutting temperatures. At 1.5 inches overall length with a 1/2 inch length of cut, this is a long-reach geometry suited to slots, pockets, and profiling passes where a standard-length tool cannot reach. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this tool in compatible toolholders for production and job-shop environments.
This end mill is built for roughing and finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces. The centercutting design allows plunge entry, making it suitable for closed-pocket operations. The coarse pitch and medium helix promote chip evacuation in tough materials, reducing the risk of recutting. It is a single-end, straight-cylindrical shank tool that seats directly in standard 1/8 inch bore toolholders. Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Use the toolholder manufacturer's specified clamping method and torque procedure — do not over-clamp a straight-cylindrical shank, as it can cause runout or shank damage. Verify tool projection and runout with a dial indicator before starting a cut.
