Product Description

The SECO 17003176 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-precision milling in aluminum and non-ferrous materials. Built to Series A345 long-length specifications, it features a 1 inch cutting diameter, a 3-1/4 inch length of cut, and a 6 inch overall length on a 1 inch straight shank. The micrograin carbide substrate and 45-degree helix angle support aggressive material removal while maintaining edge integrity. The bright/uncoated finish suits direct use in non-ferrous applications where coating adhesion or contamination is a concern. This is a single-end, centercutting tool capable of plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral milling.

This end mill is intended for CNC machining centers and manual mills where long reach into aluminum, brass, copper, or similar non-ferrous workpieces is required. The extended length of cut — 3-1/4 inches — makes it well-suited for deep pocket milling, slotting, and side-milling operations where standard-length tooling cannot reach. It is a production-grade tool used by machinists in job shops, aerospace fabrication, and general precision machining environments. The 3-flute geometry balances chip evacuation and feed rate capacity for gummy, low-hardness materials.

Key Features

  • 1 inch cutting diameter with micrograin solid carbide construction for rigidity and edge retention
  • 3-1/4 inch length of cut supports deep pocket and long-reach milling operations
  • 45-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip flow and reduced cutting forces in non-ferrous materials
  • Centercutting design allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole
  • Bright/uncoated finish optimized for aluminum and non-ferrous workpiece materials
  • Right-hand cut, right-hand flute with spiral flute geometry for standard CNC and manual mill setups

Compatibility

Designed for use in aluminum and non-ferrous materials (Material Code N). Fits standard 1 inch collet chucks, end mill holders, and hydraulic toolholders on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. Part of the SECO Series A345 long-length solid carbide end mill family.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician. The shank should be inserted to the full recommended engagement depth in the toolholder and secured with the appropriate torque per the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout does not exceed the maximum TIR of 0.0005 inches after installation using a dial indicator. Ensure spindle and machine axes are fully stopped before changing or inspecting tooling.
