The SECO 17003174 is a single-end square end mill engineered for cutting aluminum and non-ferrous materials in demanding machining environments. Built from micrograin solid carbide, it delivers the rigidity and edge retention needed for high-speed milling passes. The tool features a 1 inch cutting diameter, a 2 inch length of cut, and a 4 inch overall length with a 1 inch straight shank. A 45-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation in softer metals, reducing heat buildup and improving surface finish. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops, production facilities, and maintenance departments install this tool in vertical and horizontal machining centers.
This end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in aluminum alloys, brass, copper, and other non-ferrous workpiece materials. Its centercutting design allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece without pre-drilling. The short length type provides additional rigidity, making it well-suited for applications where overhang must be minimized and dimensional accuracy is critical. It ships as a single unit and carries no coolant-through or chipbreaker features, keeping setup straightforward for standard milling operations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling option for CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 1 inch straight shank, Series A345 tooling line.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Verify shank runout does not exceed the 0.0005 inch TIR maximum specification before beginning a cut. Follow shop-standard torque procedures for the collet or end mill holder to avoid slippage during high-feed passes.
