The SECO 17003173 is a single-end, solid carbide square end mill designed for high-precision milling of aluminum and non-ferrous materials. Built to Series A345 standards, it features a 1 inch mill diameter, a 1-1/4 inch length of cut, and a 4 inch overall length. The micrograin carbide substrate and 45-degree helix angle deliver clean chip evacuation and stable cutting performance in light-alloy applications. The bright, uncoated finish is suited for non-ferrous work where coatings may cause built-up edge. This tool is installed by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This end mill is intended for milling aluminum, brass, copper, and other non-ferrous materials where a sharp, uncoated carbide edge is preferred. The 3-flute geometry balances chip clearance and surface finish, making it a practical choice for profiling, slotting, and peripheral milling passes. The straight, 1 inch shank fits standard ER or side-lock toolholders. Its stub length classification and centercutting design allow plunge entry as well as conventional side milling operations on vertical machining centers and CNC mills.
Designed as an OEM-style tooling solution for CNC vertical machining centers and manual knee mills accepting a 1 inch straight shank, with primary application in aluminum and non-ferrous material machining per Series A345 specifications.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool. Seat the 1 inch straight shank fully into the toolholder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout does not exceed the 0.0005 inch TIR maximum before beginning a production cut.
