The SECO 17003171 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance material removal in aluminum and non-ferrous workpiece materials. Part of the SECO Series A345, it features a 3/4-inch cutting diameter, a 3-1/4-inch length of cut, and a 6-inch overall length, classifying it as a long-length end mill. The 45-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action, which is particularly effective in aluminum and other gummy non-ferrous alloys. Three spiral flutes and a bright uncoated finish make this tool well suited for applications where surface finish and chip flow are priorities. Machinists and CNC operators install this tool in vertical machining centers, knee mills, and similar equipment.
This end mill is intended for use in aluminum, copper, brass, and other non-ferrous materials where a long reach and large depth of cut are required. The single-end, centercutting design allows plunge entry as well as peripheral and slot milling operations. It is appropriate for both production and job-shop environments where a long-length reach is necessary to access deep features, pockets, or cavities in workpieces. The straight 3/4-inch shank seats directly into standard ER or end mill holders designed for 3/4-inch bore retention.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide end mill for Series A345 applications; suitable for use in standard 3/4-inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and shrink-fit holders compatible with a 3/4-inch straight shank.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator; the machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool-change procedure followed before seating or removing the end mill from its holder. Ensure the holder bore is clean and free of chips before inserting the shank, and torque the retention screw or collet nut per the holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout against the published TIR maximum of 0.0005 inches after installation using a dial test indicator before beginning a cut. Do not exceed the rated depth of cut or feed rate for the workpiece material to avoid tool breakage.
