The SECO 17003169 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for cutting aluminum and non-ferrous materials in milling operations. Built from micrograin carbide, it delivers the edge retention and dimensional stability required for precise material removal. The tool features a 45-degree helix angle and a bright uncoated finish, both suited to the low-friction, high-speed demands of non-ferrous machining. With a 3/4 inch cutting diameter and three flutes, it balances chip evacuation with rigidity. This is a single-end, centercutting tool, meaning it can plunge directly into the workpiece as well as perform peripheral milling. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments are the primary installers of this tool.
This end mill is intended for use in milling machines and CNC machining centers where aluminum, brass, copper, and similar non-ferrous workpiece materials are processed. The short flute length classification and 1-5/8 inch length of cut make it appropriate for applications requiring stability and minimal deflection, particularly in shallow-to-moderate depth passes. The straight shank fits standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and similar toolholding systems common in horizontal and vertical machining setups.
Belongs to SECO Series A345 and is rated for primary workpiece material code N, covering aluminum and non-ferrous metals. Designed for use in standard straight-shank toolholders with a 3/4 inch bore. Coolant-through and extended-reach configurations are not applicable to this part number.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine placed in a locked-out, de-energized state per applicable lockout/tagout procedures. Secure the straight shank fully within the toolholder to the recommended engagement depth for the holder type in use; insufficient engagement is a common cause of tool pullout under load. Verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting; TIR for this tool is rated at a maximum of 0.0005 inches. Handle carbide tooling carefully to avoid chipping the cutting edges during setup.
