The SECO 17003168 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-precision milling of aluminum and non-ferrous materials. Part of the Series A345, this stub-length tool features a 3/4 inch cutting diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 45-degree helix angle optimized for efficient chip evacuation in softer alloys. With three flutes and a right-hand spiral flute configuration, it delivers smooth cutting action and excellent surface finish. The uncoated, bright finish micrograin carbide construction provides the sharp edge retention and rigidity that machinists need when holding tight tolerances in production or job shop environments.
This end mill is suited for face milling, slotting, and profile milling operations on aluminum, brass, copper, and other non-ferrous workpiece materials. The centercutting design allows plunge entry, expanding its utility in general CNC milling and manual mill applications. The straight shank and 3/4 inch shank diameter make it compatible with standard ER and end mill holders commonly used in both VMC and HMC setups. Its stub-length classification makes it well-suited for rigidity-critical operations where minimizing deflection is a priority.
Designed for use with aluminum and non-ferrous workpiece materials (Primary Workpiece Material Code: N). Fits standard 3/4 inch straight-shank end mill holders and collet chucks used in CNC machining centers and manual mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following machine tool manufacturer guidelines. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Confirm proper tool projection and runout before engaging a cut — the TIR maximum for this tool is 0.0005 inches and should not be exceeded in the holder setup. Consult feeds and speeds data for the specific workpiece material and machine to avoid tool overload or premature wear.
