The SECO 17003166 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-precision milling in aluminum and non-ferrous materials. With a 0.625 inch mill diameter, a 2.5 inch length of cut, and a 5 inch overall length, this tool delivers consistent stock removal and accurate profiling in demanding shop environments. The 45-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation, while the micrograin carbide substrate provides the rigidity and edge retention expected from a professional-grade cutting tool. It is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on CNC mills and manual milling machines.
This end mill is suited for milling aluminum, brass, copper, and other non-ferrous alloys in both production and job-shop settings. The long-length configuration with a 2.5 inch length of cut makes it well suited for deeper slotting, profiling, and pocket milling operations where standard-length tools cannot reach. The straight shank at 0.625 inch diameter fits directly into standard ER collets and end mill holders commonly used in vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Designed for use in aluminum and non-ferrous workpiece materials (primary workpiece material code N). Fits standard 5/8 inch ER collets and end mill holders. Part of the SECO Series A345 long-length square end mill line.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists on CNC or manual milling equipment. Ensure the spindle is fully powered down and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before inserting or removing the end mill. Seat the shank fully to the recommended depth in the collet or holder and torque the retention nut per the tool holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning production cuts; the specified maximum TIR is 0.0005 inches.
