The SECO 17003164 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-precision material removal in aluminum and non-ferrous metals. Belonging to the Series A345, this single-end stub-length tool features three spiral flutes with a 45-degree helix angle, delivering efficient chip evacuation and clean cutting action. The micrograin carbide construction provides the edge rigidity and wear resistance required for consistent performance in production environments. With a 5/8 inch mill diameter and a 3/4 inch length of cut, it handles slotting, peripheral milling, and plunge operations. Installed by machinists and CNC operators in job shops and production facilities.
This end mill is optimized for cutting aluminum and non-ferrous workpiece materials, corresponding to material code N. The centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole, adding operational flexibility. The uncoated bright finish is well-suited for non-ferrous applications where coating adhesion is not required and sharp edges must be maintained. The straight shank and right-hand cut with right-hand flute direction make it compatible with standard milling machine and CNC machining center tool holders. Its stub length classification provides added rigidity, reducing deflection in demanding cut conditions.
Designed as an OEM-style tooling solution for standard milling machines and CNC machining centers utilizing 5/8 inch diameter straight shank tool holders. Primary workpiece material is aluminum and non-ferrous metals (material code N).
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the control in a safe, locked-out state per applicable machine guarding and OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the straight shank is fully seated and properly torqued in the tool holder collet before operation. Verify runout does not exceed the maximum TIR of 0.0005 inches after installation using a dial indicator. Consult the machine tool manufacturer and SECO cutting data recommendations for appropriate feeds, speeds, and depth-of-cut parameters before starting the cut.
