The SECO 17003163 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in aluminum and non-ferrous materials. It features a 0.5-inch diameter cutting face, a 3.125-inch length of cut, and a 6-inch overall length, making it well suited for extended-reach slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations. Built from micrograin solid carbide, it delivers the rigidity and edge retention needed in demanding production environments. The 45-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation when cutting aluminum and similar soft metals, reducing built-up edge and improving surface finish.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines where aluminum, copper, brass, and other non-ferrous workpieces are common. Its center-cutting geometry allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole, giving machinists flexibility in toolpath strategies. The uncoated bright finish is standard for aluminum applications where coatings can cause material adhesion. It is a single-end tool in the Series A345, using a straight 0.5-inch shank compatible with standard ER and end mill holders.
Designed for milling aluminum and non-ferrous materials (Primary Workpiece Material Code: N) as identified in the Series A345 product line. Compatible with any standard straight-shank 0.5-inch end mill holder or ER collet system.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Secure the shank fully in a collet or end mill holder to the manufacturer-recommended engagement depth and verify runout before cutting. Power down the spindle and lock out the machine before changing tooling. Confirm workholding, feeds, and speeds are appropriate for the workpiece material before engaging the cut.
