The SECO 17003160 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-precision material removal in aluminum and non-ferrous metal applications. Built to Series A345 specifications, it features a 0.5 inch mill diameter, a 45-degree helix angle, and a micrograin carbide substrate that supports sharp cutting edges and tight tolerances. The bright, uncoated finish is well suited for non-ferrous materials where coating adhesion or aluminum pickup could be a concern. This is a single-end, center-cutting tool, meaning it can be used for both peripheral milling and plunge operations. It is installed and operated by machinists and CNC operators in job shops, production environments, and maintenance machining applications.
This end mill is optimized for cutting aluminum, brass, copper, and other non-ferrous materials where material code N applies. The stub-length classification and 0.625 inch length of cut provide rigidity in short-reach setups, reducing deflection during aggressive feed rates. The straight shank fits standard collet chucks and end mill holders with a 0.5 inch bore. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry follow conventional CNC milling conventions for typical spindle rotation.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or quill is locked before installing or removing the tool. Seat the straight shank to the full recommended engagement depth in the holder and torque the collet nut or set screw to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout against the TIR maximum of 0.0005 inches before beginning any cut.
