The SECO 17003153 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for material removal in aluminum and non-ferrous metal applications. Built on the Series A345 platform with a 45-degree helix angle and micrograin carbide substrate, this tool delivers sharp cutting action and good chip evacuation in softer, gummy materials. The 3-flute geometry balances chip load and feed rate, making it well-suited for slotting, profiling, and pocket milling. It ships uncoated (bright finish) and is centercutting, which allows plunge entry. A licensed machinist or CNC operator is the typical end user for this tooling.
This end mill is sized for use in machining centers, knee mills, and CNC routers where a 3/8 inch straight shank is the standard tool holding interface. With a 1.5 inch length of cut and 4 inch overall length, it fits long-reach applications that exceed standard-length tooling without stepping up to an extended-reach specialty tool. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard for conventional spindle rotation. Primary workpiece materials are aluminum alloys and other non-ferrous metals including brass, copper, and soft plastics.
Designed for use in standard 3/8 inch collets, end mill holders, or hydraulic chucks on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. Fits any tool holding system accepting a 3/8 inch straight shank. Intended primarily for aluminum and non-ferrous workpiece materials per SECO Series A345 design parameters.
Install in a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque the drawbar or set screw per the tool holder manufacturer specification. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before cutting — TIR maximum for this tool is 0.0005 inches. Never exceed the tool manufacturer recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and depth of cut. Power down the spindle completely and lock out the machine before changing tooling.
