The SECO 17003146 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precise milling of aluminum and non-ferrous materials. It features a 5/16 inch cutting diameter, a 13/16 inch length of cut, and a 2-1/2 inch overall length. The three-flute, spiral-flute geometry runs at a 45-degree helix angle, which promotes efficient chip evacuation in soft and gummy materials. The bright, uncoated finish suits applications where coating interaction with aluminum is undesirable. Micrograin carbide construction provides rigidity and edge retention in high-speed passes. This end mill is a single-end, center-cutting tool with a straight shank, installed by machinists and CNC operators in precision machining environments.
This end mill is suited for light-to-moderate material removal in aluminum alloys and other non-ferrous workpiece materials. The center-cutting capability allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole, supporting slotting, profiling, and pocket milling operations. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers. The 5/16 inch shank diameter matches the cutting diameter, keeping the tool profile consistent for close-tolerance toolpath work in smaller-part fixtures.

Install into a matched 5/16 inch collet or end mill holder and verify runout against the stated TIR maximum of 0.0005 inches before cutting. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is secured before tightening the holder. Apply appropriate cutting speeds and feeds for the workpiece material per the machine tool documentation. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use, as carbide tools are brittle and can fracture if seated improperly or run at incorrect parameters.
