The SECO 17003142 is a single-end, solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in aluminum and non-ferrous materials. It features a 0.25-inch mill diameter, a 1.25-inch length of cut, and a 4-inch overall length. The 3-flute, spiral-flute geometry runs a 45-degree helix angle, which promotes efficient chip evacuation in softer metals. The bright, uncoated finish is standard for non-ferrous applications where coating adhesion or chemical reaction with the workpiece is a concern. This tool ships as a single-end cutter with a straight 0.25-inch shank and is centercutting, allowing plunge entry into the workpiece. It is built to Series A345 standards using micrograin carbide substrate.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual mills where aluminum, brass, copper, or other non-ferrous workpieces are being profiled, slotted, or pocketed. The 3-flute configuration balances chip room with cutting efficiency, making it well suited for higher feed rates in softer materials. It carries a right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction, which is the standard orientation for conventional and climb milling on most machine tool setups. No extended reach, coolant-through, chipbreaker, or variable helix features are present on this tool.
Designed for use in milling applications where the primary workpiece material is aluminum or non-ferrous metals (material code N). Fits any tool holder or collet accepting a straight 0.25-inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Secure the shank in a compatible collet or end mill holder and verify runout does not exceed the 0.0005-inch TIR maximum before cutting. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is locked out before changing or inspecting the cutter. Follow the machine tool manufacturer guidelines for feed rate and spindle speed when programming cuts in aluminum or non-ferrous materials.
