The SECO 17003136 is a single-end square end mill designed for precision milling of aluminum and non-ferrous materials. It features a 3/16 inch cutting diameter and a 5/16 inch length of cut, ground from micrograin solid carbide for consistent edge integrity and dimensional stability. The 45-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation in softer materials, reducing heat buildup and extending tool life. With a bright, uncoated finish and centercutting capability, this end mill handles slotting, profiling, and plunge operations in one tool. It is sized for use in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines where tight tolerances and fine finishes are required.
This end mill is suited for shops working with aluminum alloys, brass, copper, and other non-ferrous materials in Series A345 short-length applications. Its 2 inch overall length and straight shank make it well matched to standard collet chucks and ER-style toolholders in benchtop CNC routers and vertical machining centers. It is commonly used in production environments and job shops running light-to-moderate roughing and finishing passes on non-ferrous workpieces. The short flute length and rigid carbide construction help minimize deflection during high-speed passes.
Designed as a Series A345 short square end mill for use with aluminum and non-ferrous workpiece materials (material code N). Fits any toolholder or collet accepting a 3/16 inch straight shank.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with CNC or manual milling equipment. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down or in a safe e-stop state before loading or changing tooling. Seat the straight shank fully and evenly in the collet before tightening to the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production run, particularly when working to tight dimensional tolerances.
