The SECO 17002987 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for material removal and profiling in aluminum and non-ferrous workpiece materials. It features a 3/4-inch mill diameter, a 3-1/4-inch length of cut, and a 6-inch overall length, placing it in the long-series category for extended-reach applications. The 2-flute geometry with a 45-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation in gummy materials like aluminum. The micrograin carbide substrate provides rigidity and wear resistance without a coating, making this a bright/uncoated tool suited for applications where coatings may cause built-up edge on non-ferrous metals. A licensed machinist or CNC operator installs and runs this tooling.
This end mill is configured for single-end use with a straight, 3/4-inch diameter shank for standard collet or end mill holder mounting. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute orientation is standard for conventional vertical and horizontal CNC machining centers. Center-cutting capability allows this tool to plunge directly into the workpiece, enabling slot milling, pocketing, and profile contouring in a single tool. The long series length of cut of 3-1/4 inches makes it well suited for deep-cavity milling and applications where a standard-length end mill cannot reach the full feature depth.
Designed as a Series A245 replacement or direct-use end mill for CNC machining operations on aluminum and non-ferrous materials. Primary workpiece material code N. Straight shank fits standard 3/4-inch collet chucks and end mill holders.
A qualified machinist or CNC operator should install this end mill. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from its holder. Verify the holder bore and collet are clean and free of chips before seating the shank, and confirm runout does not exceed the 0.0005-inch maximum TIR specification after installation. Follow the machine tool manufacturer torque specifications for the holder style in use.
