The SECO 17002977 is a single-end square end mill machined from micrograin solid carbide, designed for high-precision material removal in CNC milling operations. It features a 0.5 inch mill diameter, a 1.25 inch length of cut, and a 3 inch overall length. The 45-degree helix angle and two-flute spiral configuration support efficient chip evacuation, making this tool particularly effective when cutting aluminum and other non-ferrous materials. The bright, uncoated finish is standard for applications where coating is unnecessary or where re-sharpening is anticipated. This end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in aluminum, brass, copper, and other non-ferrous workpiece materials. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC spindle rotation. No extended reach, coolant-through capability, or chipbreaker is present in this configuration. The 0.5 inch straight shank fits standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and Weldon-style tool holders commonly used in vertical and horizontal machining centers.

Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or spindle is locked before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully and evenly in the tool holder and torque the retention mechanism to the tool holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout against the stated TIR maximum of 0.0005 inches before beginning a cut.
