The SECO 17002969 is a single-end square end mill designed for precision milling of aluminum and non-ferrous materials. Built from micrograin solid carbide, it offers the rigidity and edge retention needed for consistent cuts in production and job-shop environments. The tool features a 3/8-inch cutting diameter, a 1-1/2-inch length of cut, and a 45-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation when working soft metals. With a bright, uncoated finish and right-hand cutting and flute direction, this end mill suits machinists running high-speed aluminum strategies where coating buildup is a concern. It is a long-series tool in the Series A245 line.
This end mill is intended for CNC machining centers and manual mills handling aluminum, brass, copper, and other non-ferrous workpiece materials. The long length-of-cut geometry suits deeper-pocket and slotting operations where standard-length tools cannot reach. The straight shank and 3/8-inch shank diameter fit standard ER and side-lock toolholders common in vertical and horizontal machining centers. Machinists performing high-speed finishing or semi-finishing passes in aluminum housings, plates, or extrusions will find this a practical general-purpose selection.
Designed for use on aluminum and non-ferrous workpiece materials (material code N). Fits standard 3/8-inch straight-shank toolholders including ER collet chucks and side-lock holders used on CNC and manual milling machines. Part of the SECO Series A245 long end mill line.
Secure the shank fully within the toolholder to the recommended gauge-line depth before tightening to avoid runout. Verify TIR does not exceed 0.0005 inches at setup, as specified for this tool. Power down the spindle completely before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Use appropriate cutting fluids or air blast when machining aluminum to manage chip clearing and heat.
