The SECO 17002968 is a single-end square end mill machined from micrograin solid carbide, designed for high-precision material removal in aluminum and non-ferrous metals. It features a 3/8-inch cutting diameter with a 1-inch length of cut and a 45-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finish. The uncoated bright finish makes it well-suited for non-ferrous applications where coating adhesion or built-up edge can be a concern. This tool is intended for use by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This end mill fits standard 3/8-inch straight shank tool holders and is configured for right-hand cut with right-hand flute direction. Its centercutting geometry allows plunge entry, adding versatility in pocket milling and slotting operations. The 2-1/2-inch overall length suits most vertical machining center setups working with aluminum stock, brass, copper, and similar non-ferrous workpiece materials. It is a Series A245 tool from SECO.
Designed for use in standard 3/8-inch straight shank collet chucks and tool holders on CNC vertical machining centers and manual mills. Primary workpiece materials are aluminum and non-ferrous metals (material code N). Part of the SECO Series A245 product line.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Secure the shank fully within the collet or tool holder to the recommended engagement depth before tightening. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before tool changes. Verify runout against the published TIR maximum before beginning a production run.
