The SECO 17002961 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for precision material removal in aluminum and non-ferrous machining applications. It features a 5/16 inch cutting diameter, a 7/16 inch length of cut, and a 45-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces heat buildup at the cutting zone. The two-flute geometry provides generous flute valleys suited to the gummy, long-chip characteristics of aluminum and similar soft metals. Constructed from micrograin solid carbide, this end mill delivers rigidity and wear resistance in a compact, single-end configuration. The bright uncoated finish is appropriate for non-ferrous materials where coating adhesion is unnecessary and clean cutting edges are preferred. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers and users.
This end mill is designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines where aluminum, copper, brass, and other non-ferrous workpieces are the primary material. The Series A245 designation places it in a family of general-purpose carbide end mills suited to finishing and semi-finishing passes. The centercutting capability allows plunge entry into the workpiece, expanding its range of practical applications. With a 5/16 inch shank diameter and 2-1/2 inch overall length, it fits standard ER and end mill holders commonly found in production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use with aluminum and non-ferrous workpiece materials (Primary Workpiece Material Code: N). Fits standard 5/16 inch end mill holders and collet chucks. Part of the SECO Series A245 solid carbide end mill family.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the spindle before mounting or removing the end mill. Ensure the shank is fully seated in the holder and that the collet or set-screw torque matches the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify spindle speed and feed parameters are appropriate for the workpiece material and depth of cut before engaging the cutter.
