The SECO 17002953 is a single-end square end mill designed for precision milling of aluminum and non-ferrous materials. Built from micrograin solid carbide, it delivers consistent cutting performance and extended tool life compared to high-speed steel alternatives. The bright/uncoated finish is well suited for aluminum applications where coating adhesion is a concern. Key geometry includes a 3/16 inch mill diameter, 9/16 inch length of cut, 2 flutes, and a 45-degree helix angle. The 45-degree helix promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes in softer non-ferrous workpieces. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC operators in job shop, production, and maintenance environments.
This end mill is applied in milling operations involving aluminum, brass, copper, and other non-ferrous materials where a center-cutting, right-hand spiral tool is required. The 2-flute design provides larger chip gullets suitable for high-speed passes in softer materials. The straight shank fits standard collet chucks and end mill holders. This tool is installed and operated by machinists using CNC machining centers or manual milling machines. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Secure the straight shank in a properly sized collet or end mill holder and verify runout does not exceed the specified TIR maximum before beginning a cut. Follow shop-specific feeds, speeds, and depth-of-cut guidelines appropriate for the workpiece material and machine rigidity.
