The SECO 17002949 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in aluminum and non-ferrous materials. It features a 0.125-inch diameter, a 0.375-inch length of cut, and a 1.5-inch overall length, making it well suited for detail work and slotting in tight geometries. The 45-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation, and the bright uncoated finish maintains dimensional stability when working soft metals. Micrograin carbide construction provides the edge strength and rigidity needed for consistent performance in high-speed applications. This is a single-end, right-hand cut tool from the Series A245 line.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines for contouring, slotting, and profiling operations on aluminum, brass, copper, and other non-ferrous workpiece materials. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry in addition to peripheral and slot milling. It is appropriate for prototype shops, job shops, and production environments where close-tolerance work on non-ferrous stock is routine. The straight shank fits standard collet chucks and end mill holders compatible with 1/8-inch bore tooling.
Designed for use in standard 1/8-inch bore collet chucks and end mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. Primary workpiece material compatibility is aluminum and non-ferrous metals (ISO material code N).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, powered-down state before changing tooling. Secure the straight shank in a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder to the tool manufacturer's recommended engagement depth, and verify runout does not exceed the 0.0005-inch TIR maximum before beginning a cut. Always confirm spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and tool diameter before engaging the cut.
