The SECO 17002745 is a single-end square end mill from the MES430 series, ground from micrograin solid carbide for precise milling in demanding trade and industrial applications. It carries a 1/64 inch cutting diameter with a 1/32 inch length of cut and a 1/8 inch straight shank, giving it a slender profile suited for fine-detail slot milling, profiling, and plunge operations. Four right-hand spiral flutes at a 30-degree helix angle promote chip evacuation and surface finish quality. The bright uncoated finish means it is ready to run as received, with no coating buildup to affect dimensional accuracy at this micro scale. Centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry into the workpiece.
This end mill is engineered for stub-length applications where rigidity and runout control are critical. Primary workpiece material ratings cover cast iron, stainless steel, aluminum and non-ferrous alloys, carbon and alloy steel, and high-temperature alloys, making it a versatile choice for mold and die shops, precision machining cells, and aerospace component work. The tight diameter tolerance of plus or minus 0.0005 inches and a maximum TIR of 0.0001 inches support consistent dimensional results across production runs. Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician using a properly sized collet or shrink-fit holder rated for 1/8 inch shanks. Ensure the spindle and tool holder are clean and free of debris before seating the shank to the full recommended grip depth. At this micro diameter, runout at the tool tip must be verified with a dial indicator before cutting; excessive runout will cause premature breakage. Follow machine tool manufacturer guidelines for spindle speed and feed rate selection based on workpiece material.
