The SECO 17002701 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling of steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys including titanium. Part of the MEB430 series, it features a 0.0400-inch cutting diameter, a 0.0200-inch nose radius, and a 4-flute spiral geometry with a 30-degree medium helix angle. The submicron carbide grade provides the hardness and wear resistance needed for both roughing and finishing operations in demanding CNC machining environments. The bright, uncoated finish suits applications where coating buildup clearance is not required. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on small-feature contouring and profiling rely on tools in this size range.
This end mill is suited for small-feature 3D contouring, slot milling, and die/mold work where tight tolerances and fine surface finish are required. The 0.1200-inch reach length and 0.0400-inch neck diameter make it appropriate for applications requiring controlled depth engagement on miniature or precision components. It is a single-end, right-hand cut tool with a right-hand flute direction and a straight-cylindrical shank, fitting standard 1/8-inch collets and tool holders. Extended reach and coolant-through features are not included in this configuration.
Fits standard 1/8-inch straight-cylindrical collets and tool holders. Part of the SECO MEB430 series; manufacturer catalog number MEB430-0.040-F3-B.0-Z4. Designed for use on CNC machining centers performing small-feature milling operations across the listed workpiece material groups.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully within the collet or tool holder to the recommended grip length before tightening. Verify runout does not exceed the specified TIR maximum of 0.0050 inches after installation. At this diameter, tool deflection and runout are critical factors — confirm holder condition and collet cleanliness before each setup.
