The SECO 17002532 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in tight-tolerance machining applications. Built on the MES230 series platform, this stub-length tool features a 0.027 inch cutting diameter with a 0.0405 inch length of cut and a 0.125 inch straight shank. The micrograin carbide substrate provides the rigidity and edge retention needed for small-diameter work in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, non-ferrous materials, and high-temperature alloys. With 2 flutes and a 30-degree helix spiral geometry, it balances chip evacuation with cutting stability at the micro scale. Center-cutting capability allows direct plunge entry. The overall length is 1.5 inches.
This end mill is suited for CNC milling operations requiring fine detail passes, slot milling, and contouring at small diameters. Its stub-length profile minimizes deflection, making it appropriate for rigid setups in vertical machining centers and CNC mills handling precision components in aerospace, medical device, automotive, and general metalworking environments. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry are standard for conventional CNC spindle configurations. The uncoated bright finish makes it well-suited for non-ferrous and aluminum applications where coatings can cause material adhesion issues.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and direct-fit tooling option for CNC milling applications requiring a 0.125 inch straight shank, right-hand cut square end mill in the MES230 series stub-length category.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Secure the 0.125 inch shank in a compatible collet or end mill holder, ensuring the holder is rated for the shank diameter and that runout does not exceed the 0.0001 inch TIR maximum specified for this tool. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. At this diameter, avoid side loading beyond the tool's rated depth of cut, as micro-diameter carbide tools are susceptible to breakage from lateral shock or improper feed rates.
