The SECO 17002525 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in tight-tolerance machining applications. Part of the MES230 series, this stub-length single-end mill features a 1/64 inch (0.0200 inch) cutting diameter, a 1/32 inch length of cut, and a 1/8 inch straight shank. The two-flute geometry with a 30-degree spiral helix and right-hand cut and flute direction suits high-speed slotting and profiling in small-diameter work. Micrograin carbide construction provides the rigidity and edge retention needed for demanding cuts in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Installed by machinists and toolroom technicians, this tool is sized for CNC mills and precision manual mills where minimal cutter deflection is critical.
The 17002525 is suited for precision milling of steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. Its stub length and small diameter make it well-matched to fine detail work, mold and die finishing, engraving, and close-quarter profiling passes where a longer reach tool would introduce excessive deflection or runout. The 1-1/2 inch overall length keeps the tool stiff and stable in the cut.
Designed for use with standard 1/8 inch collets and toolholders on CNC machining centers and precision manual mills. Primary workpiece material ratings cover Steel (P), Stainless Steel (M), Cast Iron (K), Aluminum and Non-Ferrous (N), and High-Temp Alloy (S) classifications.
Install and remove end mills only with the spindle fully stopped and the machine locked out per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the straight shank fully into a clean, correctly sized collet or end mill holder and torque the drawbar or collet nut to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Confirm runout at the tip does not exceed the 0.0001 inch maximum TIR rating before beginning the cut. At this diameter, even minor collet contamination or improper seating will cause tool breakage.
