The SECO 17002515 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision micro-machining in demanding production environments. Part of the MES230 series, this stub-length tool features a 0.01-inch cutting diameter with a 0.015-inch length of cut and a 1/8-inch straight shank. The micrograin carbide construction provides the rigidity and edge retention required for accurate, repeatable cuts at small diameters. With a 30-degree helix angle and spiral flute geometry, it promotes efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting. It is a single-end, center-cutting tool with right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction, suitable for slotting, profiling, and contouring in tight-tolerance applications.
This end mill is suited for use in CNC machining centers and milling machines where fine detail work is required. Its uncoated bright finish and micrograin carbide substrate make it appropriate for a range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. The stub length format minimizes deflection, making it well-suited for high-precision slot milling and finishing passes where dimensional control is critical. Machinists and toolroom professionals working in aerospace, medical, and precision manufacturing applications will find this tool applicable to fine-feature work.
Compatible primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. Designed as an OEM-grade replacement or direct-use tool for CNC milling applications requiring micro-diameter square end mill geometry in the MES230 series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom professional. Secure the 1/8-inch straight shank in a compatible collet or end mill holder, ensuring the shank is fully seated and holder runout is within specification. At this diameter, TIR must be minimized to prevent tool breakage; verify spindle and holder TIR before operation. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut for the 0.015-inch length of cut rating.
