The SECO 17002451 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling in a wide range of metallic workpiece materials. With a 0.0100 inch mill diameter and a 0.0300 inch length of cut, this tool is built for micro-milling applications where tight tolerances and fine surface finishes are required. The 2-flute, right-hand spiral geometry with a 30-degree medium helix promotes chip evacuation and stable cutting action. Ground from submicron carbide grade stock, it holds a mill diameter tolerance of plus or minus 0.0005 inches and a maximum TIR of 0.0001 inches. The bright, uncoated finish makes it well suited for dry cutting or use with standard cutting fluids. Machinists and CNC programmers in precision job shops and production facilities are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is rated for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous materials, and high-temperature alloys, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, N, and S. Its micro-diameter geometry makes it appropriate for engraving, fine contouring, and detail profiling operations on CNC machining centers and high-speed micro-milling platforms. The 0.1250 inch straight-cylindrical shank is compatible with standard collet chucks sized for 1/8 inch shanks, making tooling setup straightforward in most shop environments. The 1.5000 inch overall length provides adequate reach while maintaining rigidity at this diameter. This is a single-end tool in the SECO MEB230 series, suited for both roughing and finishing passes at micro-scale.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and high-speed micro-milling machines equipped with 1/8 inch collet or collet chuck systems. Rated for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous materials, and high-temperature alloys (ISO groups P, M, K, N, S).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the 0.1250 inch shank fully into the collet to the recommended gauge-line depth and torque the collet nut per the collet manufacturer specification. At this diameter, runout control is critical — verify TIR at the cutting edge with a dial indicator before beginning any cut to avoid premature tool breakage.
