The SECO 17002383 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining environments. Built to Series S938R specifications, it features a 1 inch diameter, 9-flute configuration, and a 0.0300 inch corner radius that reduces edge chipping and improves surface finish on ferrous and exotic materials. The AlTiN coating, applied via PVD process, provides heat resistance and extended tool life at elevated cutting temperatures. With a 4.25 inch length of cut and 7 inch overall length, this is a long-reach tool suited for deep-pocket and side-wall milling operations. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling specialists are the primary users.
This end mill is configured for roughing and finishing passes on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The super-close pitch 9-flute geometry supports aggressive material removal while maintaining finish quality. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard. The straight-cylindrical shank accommodates standard toolholders. This tool does not feature center-cutting geometry and is not suited for plunge entry. It is intended for horizontal and ramping entries in vertical machining centers and similar CNC equipment.
Designed for use with standard straight-bore toolholders accepting a 1 inch shank diameter. Primary workpiece material compatibility includes steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium as specified by the manufacturer for this series.
Installation should be performed by qualified CNC tooling technicians following shop-standard toolholder torque procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Confirm runout does not exceed the manufacturer TIR maximum of 0.0005 inch after mounting. This tool does not support coolant-through delivery; flood or mist coolant should be directed externally at the cutting zone.
