The SECO 17002378 belongs to the S938R series and is built for use in CNC machining centers with standard toolholders accepting a 1-inch straight cylindrical shank. It handles a wide range of ferrous and exotic materials, including P-class steels, M-class stainless steels, K-class cast iron, and S-class superalloys and titanium. The single-end, right-hand cutting configuration with a medium 38-degree helix suits both peripheral and slotting operations where chip evacuation and tool stability are priorities. This end mill is appropriate for horizontal and vertical machining centers running high-speed steel or carbide-compatible toolpaths.

Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the shank fully in the toolholder collet or chuck and verify runout does not exceed the TIR maximum of 0.0005 inches before beginning a cut. Do not use this end mill in center-cutting applications, as it is not center-cutting. Confirm toolholder compatibility and clamping torque requirements per the toolholder manufacturer specifications before use.
