The SECO 17002377 is a solid carbide corner chamfer end mill engineered for demanding metal removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The tool measures 1 inch in diameter with a 3.25-inch length of cut, a 1-inch straight-cylindrical shank, and a 6-inch overall length. Nine variable-index flutes with a medium helix and super-close pitch allow this single-end tool to handle both roughing and finishing passes. An AlTiN PVD coating applied over micrograin carbide substrate provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in high-temperature cutting environments. The 45-degree chamfer angle produces a 0.0120-inch chamfer width for consistent edge preparation.
This end mill is suited for machining operations that require versatile cutting strategies in a single tool. Supported operations include shouldering, slotting, ramp-down, helical interpolation, drill-mill entry, and plunging and recessing. The right-hand cutting direction and right-hand flute spiral are standard for conventional CNC vertical and horizontal milling centers. The variable index flute spacing reduces harmonic chatter during aggressive cuts, making this tool well-matched for roughing passes on difficult-to-machine alloys as well as final finishing passes where edge quality matters. It is not center-cutting and does not feature through-spindle coolant, so external coolant or air blast should be applied at the cutting zone.

Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. The 1-inch straight-cylindrical shank is compatible with collet chucks, hydraulic chucks, and shrink-fit holders — verify runout does not exceed the 0.0005-inch TIR maximum before cutting. Spindle speeds and feed rates must be selected based on workpiece material, depth of cut, and machine rigidity; consult SECO cutting data tables for Series S938 starting parameters. This tool is not center-cutting and cannot be plunged axially without a pre-drilled pilot hole or helical entry strategy.
