Product Description

The SECO 17002367 is a solid carbide corner chamfer end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. It features a 3/4 inch diameter, a 3-1/4 inch length of cut, and 9 variable-index flutes with a medium helix at 38 degrees. The AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and surface hardness suited for dry or semi-dry cutting. This tool is a single-end, right-hand cutting, right-hand flute design with a straight cylindrical shank and a 6 inch overall length. It is intended for use by machinists and CNC programmers working in production shops or toolrooms.

The 17002367 is built for both roughing and finishing operations on ferrous and difficult-to-machine workpiece materials. Its super-close pitch and variable flute geometry reduce chatter and improve chip evacuation during shouldering, slotting, ramp-down, helical interpolation, drill milling, plunging, and recessing operations. The 45-degree chamfer angle with a 0.0100 inch chamfer width makes it well suited for edge preparation and corner breaking on precision components. It is not center-cutting and does not feature coolant-through capability, so flood or mist coolant delivery at the workpiece is recommended for heat management.

Key Features

  • Solid carbide micrograin substrate for rigidity and wear resistance in tough alloys
  • AlTiN PVD coating rated for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium
  • 9 variable-index flutes at super-close pitch reduce harmonics and chatter
  • 45-degree chamfer angle with 0.0100 inch chamfer width for consistent edge prep
  • Supports shouldering, slotting, ramp-down, helical interpolation, plunging, and recessing
  • Maximum TIR of 0.0005 inches ensures runout control on precision setups

Compatibility

Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills with tool holders accepting a 3/4 inch straight cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium (material codes P, M, K, S).

Installation Notes

Installation and tool changes must be performed with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in an e-stop or locked-out state per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Use a calibrated tool holder and collet or hydraulic chuck sized for a 3/4 inch shank to maintain runout within the specified TIR. Verify tool projection and reach before running the program, particularly for helical interpolation or plunging paths where axial engagement is critical. Follow the tooling manufacturer feed and speed recommendations for the specific workpiece material and machine rigidity.
