The SECO 17002352 is a solid carbide corner chamfer end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. Built on the S938 series platform, this single-end tool features a 5/8 inch diameter, a 2-1/2 inch length of cut, and nine flutes arranged in a variable index pattern for reduced harmonic vibration and improved surface finish. The AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life when cutting ferrous and exotic materials. With a 45-degree chamfer angle and a 0.0080 inch chamfer width, it produces precise edge breaks and chamfers in a single operation. The 38-degree medium helix and super-close pitch make it effective for both roughing and finishing passes.
This end mill is suited for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium in CNC milling operations. Typical applications include shouldering, slotting, ramp-down entry, helical interpolation, drill milling, plunging, and recessing. The long flute length and straight-cylindrical shank make it a practical choice for setups requiring extended reach in vertical and horizontal machining centers. It is intended for use by machinists and tooling professionals in production and job shop environments.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers accepting a 5/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), and superalloys and titanium (S) per ISO material classification.
Installation and tool changes must be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle at a full stop and machine power locked out. Verify holder runout and collet condition before seating the shank to maintain the specified 0.0005 inch maximum TIR. This tool is not center-cutting and does not support straight plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole or helical interpolation entry. Follow shop safety procedures and machine tool manufacturer guidelines for toolholder torque and clamping.
