The SECO 17002337 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining environments. Built from micrograin carbide and coated with AlTiN via a PVD process, this tool handles both roughing and finishing operations in a single setup. It features a 0.5000-inch mill diameter, a 1.2500-inch length of cut, and a 0.0600-inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at part edges and extends tool life. Seven flutes with a medium 38-degree helix and close pitch deliver smooth chip evacuation and stable cutting action in difficult-to-machine materials.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium in CNC machining centers and similar machine tools. The single-end, right-hand cutting configuration with a straight cylindrical shank fits standard toolholders. Series S738R targets production environments where surface finish consistency and tool life under aggressive feeds and speeds are priorities. It is used by machinists in job shops, aerospace, medical, and general manufacturing operations where tight tolerances and hard materials are routine.
Designed for use with standard straight-bore toolholders accepting a 0.5000-inch cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium (material codes P, M, K, S).
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine power isolated per shop lockout-tagout procedures. Seat the shank fully in the toolholder and torque the retention hardware per the toolholder manufacturer's specifications. Verify runout does not exceed the maximum TIR of 0.0005 inches before beginning a cut. Do not use this tool for center-drilling or plunge operations, as this is a non-centercutting end mill.
