Product Description

The SECO 17002335 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for high-performance milling in demanding materials. Built on the S738R series platform, it features a 1/2 inch diameter, a 0.0150 inch corner radius, and 7 flutes with a 38-degree helix angle. The AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal and oxidation resistance, extending tool life in dry or semi-dry cutting conditions. With a length of cut of 1.25 inches and a 3 inch overall length, this single-end tool is suited for both roughing and finishing operations. Machinists and CNC programmers working in production and job shop environments rely on this geometry for consistent edge life across difficult alloys.

This end mill is designed for right-hand cutting in a right-hand spiral flute configuration with a straight cylindrical shank. It is used in CNC machining centers for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The close pitch 7-flute design increases feed rates and surface finish quality compared to standard 4-flute tools. It mounts in standard toolholders accepting a 1/2 inch straight shank and is appropriate for horizontal and vertical milling setups in production, aerospace, and general metalworking environments.

Key Features

  • AlTiN PVD coating for high-heat and oxidation resistance in hard material milling
  • 7-flute close pitch geometry supports aggressive feed rates and improved surface finish
  • 0.0150 inch corner radius reduces chipping and stress concentration at corners
  • 38-degree medium helix balances chip evacuation with cutting stability
  • Micrograin solid carbide construction maintains edge integrity in superalloys and titanium
  • Rated for both roughing and finishing material removal in a single tool

Compatibility

Designed for use with standard toolholders accepting a 1/2 inch straight cylindrical shank. Compatible with CNC milling applications in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium per SECO S738R series material codes P, M, K, and S.

Installation Notes

Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine power isolated. Verify runout against the stated TIR maximum of 0.0005 inch after mounting. Use a toolholder appropriate for the 1/2 inch straight cylindrical shank to ensure proper clamping force and concentricity. This tool is not center-cutting and should not be used for plunge entry without a pilot hole or ramping strategy.
