The SECO 17002330 is a solid carbide corner chamfer end mill designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining environments. Built on the S738 series platform, it features a 1/2 inch diameter, 7 flutes, and a super close pitch configuration that supports both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool. The variable index flute geometry reduces harmonic vibration during cuts. An AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and hardness retention, extending tool life when cutting ferrous and exotic alloys. The 45-degree chamfer angle with a 0.0060 inch chamfer width produces clean edge breaks on finished workpieces.
This end mill is suited for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium in production shop and job shop environments. It supports a wide range of operations including shouldering, slotting, ramp-down entry, helical interpolation, drill milling, plunging, and recessing. The single-end, straight-cylindrical shank mounts in standard 1/2 inch collet chucks or end mill holders. Its short length-of-cut geometry makes it appropriate for rigid setups where tool deflection must be minimized.
Designed for use in standard 1/2 inch collet chucks or end mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual mills. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium (material codes P, M, K, S). Catalog reference: S738-0.500-D2-C006.0-Z7.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before installing or removing the end mill. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully into the holder and torque the retention mechanism to the machine or holder specification. Confirm runout does not exceed the 0.0005 inch TIR maximum before beginning a cut.
