The SECO 17002324 is a solid carbide corner chamfer end mill engineered for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. It features a 3/8 inch diameter with a 1 inch length of cut, 3 inch overall length, and a 7-flute variable flute design with a super-close pitch. The 0.0050 inch chamfer width is ground at a 45-degree chamfer angle, and the cutting edges are coated with AlTiN via a PVD process for extended tool life at elevated temperatures. This tool is suited for machinists and CNC operators running aggressive roughing and finishing operations on ferrous and exotic alloys.
This end mill is designed for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium workpieces. Typical applications include shouldering, slotting, ramp-down milling, helical interpolation, drill milling, and plunging and recessing operations. The right-hand cutting direction and right-hand flute orientation make it compatible with standard CNC machining centers. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly into standard collet chucks and end mill holders with a 3/8 inch bore. This is a single-end tool with a regular length profile, suited for general production and toolroom work where edge chamfering and combined roughing and finishing passes are required.
Designed for use with standard 3/8 inch collet chucks and end mill holders on CNC machining centers. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium (material codes P, M, K, S). Part of the SECO Series S738 corner chamfer end mill line.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank to the full recommended engagement depth in the holder and torque the collet nut per the holder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout against the 0.0005 inch maximum TIR specification before beginning the cut.
