The SECO 17002323 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining environments. Part of the S738R series, it features a 3/8 inch diameter, a 0.0300 inch corner radius, and seven close-pitch flutes with a 38-degree helix angle. The AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection, making this tool well-suited for dry or semi-dry cutting conditions. At 2.5 inches overall length with a 1/2 inch length of cut, it is a stub-length tool optimized for rigidity. Machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops, aerospace, or general manufacturing will recognize this as a roughing and finishing capable tool in a single pass configuration.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and milling applications involving difficult workpiece materials. Its rated primary materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, covering ISO material codes P, M, K, and S. The stub length and seven-flute close-pitch geometry make it a productive choice for finishing passes on hardened ferrous alloys or for slotting and profiling in stainless and titanium where tool deflection control is critical. It mounts in standard straight-bore toolholders with a 3/8 inch shank diameter.

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer is in a safe state before mounting or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully and evenly in the toolholder to the recommended gauge length before torquing the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout does not exceed the 0.0005 inch maximum TIR before beginning the cut.
