The SECO 17002322 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. It carries a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, a 0.015 inch corner radius, and seven flutes arranged in a right-hand spiral with a 38-degree helix angle. The AlTiN PVD coating improves heat resistance and extends tool life when cutting abrasive or tough materials at elevated speeds. At 2.5 inches overall length with a 0.5 inch length of cut, this stub-length geometry provides rigidity and reduces deflection in tight-tolerance finishing and roughing passes. Machinists and CNC setup technicians working in job shops, production facilities, or tool rooms are the primary users.
This end mill is suited for single-end milling operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The close pitch and micrograin carbide substrate support both roughing and finishing passes without a tool change. The 7-flute configuration increases chip load per tooth at higher feed rates, making it effective for semi-finishing and finishing operations where surface finish consistency matters. It is used in vertical and horizontal machining centers with straight-cylindrical toolholders. The S738R series designation identifies the geometry family within the SECO product line.
Designed for use with straight-cylindrical toolholders accepting a 3/8 inch shank diameter. Compatible with vertical and horizontal CNC machining centers running operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium workpiece materials. Part of the SECO S738R series.
Installation and tool changes must be performed by qualified machinists with the machine spindle fully stopped and all motion axes at rest. Confirm toolholder bore diameter matches the 3/8 inch shank before mounting and verify runout against the stated TIR maximum of 0.0005 inch after clamping. Do not exceed toolholder torque specifications provided by the toolholder manufacturer. Coolant-through is not supported by this tool; external coolant or air blast is required for chip management.
