The SECO 17002321 is a solid carbide corner chamfer end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. Built on the Series S738 platform, it features a 3/8-inch diameter, a 7-flute variable-index configuration, and a 45-degree chamfer angle with a 0.0050-inch chamfer width. The AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection at elevated cutting speeds. The micrograin carbide substrate supports both roughing and finishing operations on hard, abrasive workpiece materials. Machining professionals in job shops and production environments rely on this tool for its combination of rigidity and edge life in challenging applications.
This end mill is suited for shouldering, slotting, ramp-down, helical interpolation, drill-mill, plunging, and recessing operations. It is engineered for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium workpiece materials, covering ISO material codes P, M, K, and S. The stub length type and straight-cylindrical shank promote rigidity during aggressive cuts, and the super-close pitch configuration supports chip evacuation in high-engagement passes. It is a single-end tool with right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting direction.
Designed for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium workpieces. Compatible with standard 3/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank tool holders. Manufacturers catalog number S738-0.375-D1-C005.0-Z7.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC programmer. Verify that the tool holder bore diameter matches the 3/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank before mounting. Confirm maximum TIR does not exceed 0.0005 inches after assembly to maintain edge geometry and chamfer accuracy. Secure all tool holder fasteners according to the machine tool manufacturer specifications before initiating any cutting cycle.
