The SECO 17002315 is a solid carbide corner chamfer end mill engineered for demanding material removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. It features a 1/4 inch mill diameter, 7-flute geometry with variable index, and an AlTiN PVD coating that provides heat resistance and extended tool life in high-temperature cutting environments. The 45-degree chamfer angle and 0.0030 inch chamfer width make it suitable for both roughing and finishing passes. Licensed machinists and CNC tool room operators install this tool in vertical and horizontal machining centers where edge preparation and multi-operation capability are required.
This end mill is designed for shouldering, slotting, ramp-down entry, helical interpolation, drill mill operations, and plunging and recessing applications. The super-close pitch and 7-flute configuration support high-feed strategies in ferrous and exotic alloy workpieces. The single-end, right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC milling setups. It is part of the SECO S738 series and carries the manufacturer catalog number S738-0.250-D3-C003.0-Z7.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers with straight-cylindrical tool holders accepting a 1/4 inch shank. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium (material codes P, M, K, S).
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Verify runout does not exceed the specified TIR maximum of 0.0005 inches using a dial test indicator before beginning a cut. Consult the machine tool manufacturer and applicable shop standards for proper clamping torque on the collet or tool holder.
