The SECO 17002312 is a solid carbide corner chamfer end mill designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining environments. Built on the S738 series platform, it features a 1/4 inch (0.2500 inch) mill diameter, a 3/8 inch (0.3750 inch) length of cut, and a 45-degree chamfer angle with a 0.0030 inch chamfer width. The 7-flute, super-close pitch geometry combined with an AlTiN (PVD) coating delivers heat resistance and edge durability during both roughing and finishing passes on hard and abrasive materials. The variable index flute configuration reduces harmonic chatter, making it well-suited for tight-tolerance applications.
This end mill is intended for use on CNC machining centers and milling machines processing steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. Its short length type and straight cylindrical shank support rigid setups in confined workspaces. Suitable operations include shouldering, slotting, ramp-down milling, helical interpolation, drill milling, and plunging and recessing. The right-hand cutting direction and right-hand flute orientation are standard for conventional CNC spindle configurations.
Designed for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium (material codes P, M, K, S). Compatible with straight cylindrical shank tool holders accepting a 1/4 inch shank diameter. Catalog reference: S738-0.250-D2-C003.0-Z7.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before loading or changing tooling. Confirm tool holder runout does not exceed the maximum TIR specification before beginning a cut. Follow the tool manufacturer and machine builder guidelines for feed rates, speeds, and depth of cut for the specific workpiece material.
