The SECO 17002208 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in non-ferrous metal applications. It features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter, a 0.0200 inch corner radius, and a TiCN (PVD) coating that improves wear resistance and tool life on aluminum, copper, brass, and similar materials. With three flutes and a 40-degree high-helix spiral geometry, the tool balances chip evacuation efficiency with surface finish quality. The 5 inch overall length and 3-1/8 inch reach make it suitable for extended-reach machining setups. This end mill is used by machinists and CNC operators in job shops and production environments.
The 17002208 is built for both roughing and finishing passes on non-ferrous metals, classified under material code N. It is a single-end, centercutting design, allowing plunge entry directly into the workpiece. The coarse pitch and right-hand flute direction are suited to conventional and climb milling operations in toolholder setups. The 5/8 inch length of cut and 0.4800 inch neck diameter support machining in pockets and slots where clearance between the shank and workpiece wall is a consideration. The Series AN340 designation places it within a standardized tool family for repeat sourcing and replacement planning.
Designed for use with standard straight-cylindrical toolholders accepting a 1/2 inch shank. Primary material application is non-ferrous metal (material code N). Part of the SECO AN340 series.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer is disabled before inserting or removing the end mill from the toolholder. Verify runout against the TIR maximum of 0.0005 inch after seating. Confirm shank engagement depth meets toolholder manufacturer minimums before beginning a cut.
